Questions About Mysterium's Bitcoin VPN?

What is a decentralised VPN (dVPN)?

A decentralised VPN is an open, peer-to-peer marketplace that is permissionless (meaning no intermediary and anyone can join). It enables anyone to run a node and rent their unused bandwidth and IP address to those in need. Nodes replace the traditional role of a server. Users can select from this global list of residential IPs located all around the world, allowing them to unblock content. Users pay nodes for providing this VPN service for the time or bandwidth used.

Thanks to this peer-to-peer (P2P) architecture, it’s technologically impossible for us to log your browsing activity or data (unlike regular VPNs). There are also no contracts, no subscriptions, and no locked-in costs. You can switch on and off whenever you need, and only pay for what you actually use, minute by minute.

How do I get started?

Once you’ve downloaded Mysterium’s VPN, all you need is to top up your app with a little bitcoin or another cryptocurrency of your choice. Then you can select the country you’d like to be connected to. It’s that easy.

When you first download Mysterium, you’ll already have a few MYST tokens in your account so you can ‘try before you buy’.

Why buy VPN with bitcoin?

Paying with cryptocurrency means you can pay for your VPN connection by the minute, even if it’s less than one cent! There’s no need to pay for a monthly or yearly subscription, and there are no contracts. You don’t even need an email address to register, so you can be truly anonymous with the option to switch on and off any time.

Cryptocurrencies like bitcoin are censorship-resistant and pseudo-anonymous by default. Instead of regular fiat money, where governments control the supply, a cryptocurrency acts like universal internet cash. It is borderless and nationless, as it can be ‘minted’, owned and used by anyone.

Will a VPN slow down my connection?

A VPN adds an extra layer of privacy and accessibility to your streaming, so this will naturally slow down your connection. However, it should not be too noticeable and, more importantly, you’ll be enjoying your global access to entertainment too much to care 😀

Tech experts and users trust MysteriumVPN

“Installed in a split second. Connected to an IP instantly and stayed connected. Works exactly as a stated it would. Very easy to use interface. This is a professional grade application.Highly recommend this VPN app.”

Ohio BitcoinUser; Google Play Review

“The app is very easy to use and works effectively. I'm located in Canada and had no issues connecting to various servers.”

Bobak BeheshtiUser; Google Play Review

“I believe in a less restrictive internet where governments or ISPs are not the withholder of information. This seems to be even more important in current times where citizens risk being forcibly detained because they are trying to spread information to the rest of the world but are being tracked online by their government.”
